Daily Meals
At Sycamore Tree, a nutritious breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack are prepared and served daily. Breakfast will be served to all children in our infant to 4K program at 8:30 a.m. Our school age program will be served breakfast at 9:15 a.m. on days that they are here all day. Every meal and snack meets the nutritional requirements set forth by the State of Wisconsin’s Licensing Regulations for Day Care Centers and the USDA food program.
We dine in a family-style atmosphere
Meals and snacks are cooked on-site and are served in a “family style” atmosphere which encourages pleasant and meaningful conversations and role modeling of appropriate manners and socialization.
Children are encouraged to try new foods but are not forced to eat. Food from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged. Food should not be used as a reward or punishment.
Due to state licensing, please do not bring food from home
That rule states, “No food prepared for meals may be served unless it is prepared on the premises, prepared in a central kitchen operated by the day care center.” Because of this ruling, we ask that you refrain from sending food from home with the exception of a child who is on a special diet prescribed by a doctor. A physician’s statement must be on file at the Sycamore Tree office relating to the special diet.
Birthday “treats” can be non-edible
A child’s birthday and other celebrations are very special to us; however safety is a primary concern in food and treats from outside sources.
Because of state licensing rules, outside treats for celebrations are not allowed unless they are store bought in a factory-sealed, original containers. Additionally, because of allergies, no food will be served that is packaged in, or contains peanut butter, peanut oil or other tree nuts due to the risk of severe allergic reactions.
We invite and encourage parents to bring in special, non-edible treats such as stickers, stamps or games to be shared on birthdays. You may contact your child’s teacher for specific, age-appropriate ideas for your child’s class.
Food Allergies and Nut Allergies at Sycamore Tree
Sycamore Tree is a nut-free zone. Should your child have allergies to any foods (including but not limited to peanuts, peanut oil or any other tree nuts), please notify the office immediately. All children’s allergies are posted in all of the classrooms as well as our kitchen and cafeteria area.
